NEW HOBBITS HAVE ARRIVED ….

This month is a very good months for new Hobbits to arrive. This time no less than eight new Hobbits arrived.

Three from China and three from Japan, all six thanks to Norton men in China. He bought them and sent them to me. Thanks again Norton Men!

And, very special, two FIRST printings. One from Chech Republic (1978) and one from Slavakia (1973). Thanks to Lukáš Bajgar, who found the and bought them for me. Thanks again, Lukáš!

Yes, that’s an important part of collecting: friend all over the world that help. And, if you should see Hobbits, missing in my collection, please, let me know.

I now have 760 Hobbits from 82 countries / in 82 languages and at least five more Hobbits are on their way. To be continued.

These are the new arrivals:

NEW HOBBITS HAVE ARRIVED ….

This time no less than eleven new Hobbits arrived. Thanks to a “Tauschhandel” (German word for barter) with German Hobbit collector Brigitte. Thanks again, Brigitte.

We traded duplicate Hobbits to help expand each other’s collections. By the way, Brigitte has more Hobbits than I do. Thanks to her, I know there are still several Hobbits that I don’t have and I now know what they look like. The hunt continues ….

These new Hobbits could be added to my collection: Mongolia 2018, Estonia 1995 and 2019, Bengali hardbacks 2015 (with and without dust jacket), Denmark 1995 and Sweden (2001 and 2002)  Plus: very special is a set of three Russian Hobbits. They look the same (with a different color), but they each have a different translator.

Here they are:

Soon more new Hobbits will follow. Three from Japan, three from China, two from Brittanie, one from Czec Republic (FIRST) and one from Slovakia (FIRST).

NEW HOBBIT HAS ARRIVED ….

This time a Hobbit from Hungaria arrived. It’s the Hobbit illustrated by Jemima Catlin.
This Hobbit is without any doubt my favorite illustrated Hobbit.
I now have ten different editions illustrated by Jemima Catlin: three different editions from UK, one from the US of A and editions from Italy, China, Romenia, Spain, Czech republic and now Hungary.

This Hobbit is # 740 in my Hobbit collection from 82 countries / in 82 languages. Soon 15 more Hobbits will follow.

Old school subtitle: THE ENCHANTING PRELUDE TO THE LOORD OF THE RINGS.

This Hobbit is # 739 in my Hobbit collection.Soon more Hobbits will follow: no less than eleven new Hobbits (different countries) thanks to Brigitte en two new Hobbits thanks to Lukáš Bajgar: Chech FIRST and Slovakia FIRST.

NEW HOBBIT HAS ARRIVED …..

Yes, it has been a little quiet during the summer, but here, at last, the arrival of a new Hobbit.
He comes from Spain, published, as a hardback with dust jacket and reading ribbon, in 2019 by minotauro.
Illustrated by Alan Lee.

This Hobbit is # 731 in my collection. More informatition about this Hobbit? Click here.

NEW HOBBIT HAS ARRIVED …

No, this is not one of the two Peter Sis covers from my collection. It is a Young readers edition by Houghton Mifflin (2001).
With an imitation leather dust jacket, apparently sponsored by New Line / MGM.

The dust jacket is not from 2001 (like the book), but from 2013.

This Hobbit is # 729 in my Hobbit collection. More information about this Hobbit? Click here.

SEVEN NEW HOBBITS HAVE ARRIVED ….

No less than SEVEN new Hobbits arrived, all the way from China. Thanks to Norton Men, who found them, bought them and sent them to me.
Once again: thanks Norton Men, you have been of great help for me.

In deciphering the Chinese characters of this and earlier Chinese Hobbits, I had the indispensable help from Greg Pringle (from Australia, but now living in Mongolia) and my neighbor, Mr. Li. Thanks, gentlemen, for your help.

Because of these seven new Hobbits, my collection has climbed to 728 Hobbits in 82 languages / from 82 countries.
